The most surprising element of working with Editor Susan Uttendorfsky is that she is a stickler for facts. I was pleasantly pleased when she would come back with correct spellings for products, and/or specific facts regarding the country or city that were used in my psychological thriller Lottery series.
In spite of the fact that Susan had not read the first two books of the series, she was able to quickly piece together the ‘back’ story with only brief overviews of the previous two novels.
Another aspect that I appreciated was when I questioned any type of grammar or punctuation, Susan would send a link as to why it was correct. This not only helped me understand, but educated me.
It was refreshing to find an editor who felt like a partner, rather than a hired employee who wanted to get the novel finished and move on to the next project.
I highly recommend Susan for your writing project, whether a novella or a full-blown novel. She has the insight and expertise, keeping detailed notes to find the slightest discrepancies such as timeline issues, or when a chapter seems misplaced in the script.
